Recently, Parker Bestobell Marine received a new order from Daewoo Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. to supply low temperature valves for three new ships.
Parker Bestobell Marine receives orders for low temperature valves for 3 new vessels
The three new vessels are part of the Yamal project's Arctic LNG carrier and will operate in the Arctic winter environment.
Parker Bestobell Marine's cryogenic valves will be used to include a main discharge line cargo handling system that controls the initial flow of LNG extracted from the cargo hold when pumping begins. The three LNG vessels are part of the Yamal Arc7 ice-class LNG vessel that will operate under Arctic winter conditions.
Parker Bestobell Marine has previously supplied cryogenic shut-off valves and check valves to the first of the series, the ship's owner is Russian Sovcomflot.
It is reported that the supplied cryogenic valves will be used for cargo handling systems on board, including major discharge lines that control the flow of LNG. Since the ships will operate in the Arctic environment and have viscosity problems, it is not possible to use hydraulic oil solenoids, only electric solenoids, which is the first time in LNG carriers.
These deck mounted cryogenic valves will withstand extreme sub-zero temperatures, and Parker Bestobell Marine's cryogenic valves operate at temperatures as low as -196 °C without problems. As an additional protection, Parker Bestobell Marine will provide a protective cover for headworks to protect the cryogenic valve from exposure.
Since the LNG ship operates under Arctic conditions, it is not possible to use a transmission that is operated by hydraulic oil because of viscosity problems. As a result, Parker Bestobell Marine invented a cryogenic valve that ensures that the cryogenic valve can effectively utilize the electric drive in its cryogenic design. The LNG ship will be the first LNG carrier with a shut-off valve power transmission.
South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Ocean Engineering Co. will build the series of 15 LNG vessels for three different shipowners: Mitsui, Japan, Teekay, Canada and Dynagas, Greece.
These LNG vessels are specifically designed for the Loma Liquefied Natural Gas Project in Siberia, Russia. Since 15 Arc7 ice-class LNG vessels will operate under Arc conditions at temperatures as low as -54 °C, they are required to have independent ability to navigate over more than 2 meters of ice. The Yamal LNG project is expected to produce 16.5 million tons of LNG per year.

EVA Resin

EVA Resin is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and the content of vinyl acetate (VA) is generally 5% to 40%. Compared with polyethylene, EVA is widely used in foamed shoes due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer in the molecular chain, thereby reducing high crystallinity, improving flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility and heat sealing performance. Materials, functional shed films, packaging films, hot melt adhesives, wires and cables, toys and other fields. Generally speaking, the performance of EVA resin mainly depends on the content of vinyl acetate in the molecular chain.
