Equipment BC has introduced a new RFID-based wireless meter designed to monitor and control the use of equipment. Smart meters include Nordic ID 2.4 GHz active RFID chips that can be mounted on forklifts, vehicles, oil well drilling tools, mining tools, electronic motors and other types of machinery and equipment.
The RFID reader collects information such as the usage of the device and wirelessly transmits the data to the software running on the computer. The software can send an email and text notification when it reaches a user-defined value. If the computer has Internet access, the user can also log in to the software to remotely control and monitor the device. The wireless meter reads 400 feet and does not require an RF transponder.
To help users ensure that the device performs preventive maintenance on a regular basis, the system can also be configured to send daily maintenance notifications. The smart meter can be set to work if the device does not perform an important repair service. Equipment BC also offers a 2.4 GHz RFID design package with full intellectual property, starting at $4,995.
